Father Funk

Bristol based Will Williamson (aka Father Funk) started DJing at the age of 17, after finding his feet playing guitar, bass, drums and trombone in various ska and punk bands throughout his teens. 6 years later, his bass driven funk tracks and eclectic, tongue in cheek DJ sets are world renowned – landing him sets at the likes of Glastonbury Festival, Shambala Music Festival, Boomtown Fair, Rainbow Serpent Festival and in clubs all over the world. Voted “Breakthrough Artist” and also awarded “Free Track of the Year” at Breakspoll in 2015, Father Funk has gone on to establish himself as one of the key players in the worldwide Ghetto Funk, Breaks and Glitch scene, releasing music on the likes of Ghetto Funk, Adapted Records and Scour Records, remixing the likes of Dub Pistols and Fort Knox Five, and playing alongside Stickybuds, A.Skillz, KraftyKuts, Deekline and The Funk Hunters to name a few.

This year marks the second birthday of his now infamous club night “Father Funks Church of Love” – now its own stage at the legendary Shindig Weekender festival in the UK and quickly becoming one of the best nights in Bristol. His recipe for dance floor destruction is an eclectic mix of timeless classics of all styles, namely funk and disco, seamlessly mashed up with the bass heavy sounds of modern electronic music.

Though known across the planet for his extensive back catalogue of infectious bootleg remixes, as well as releases on Father Funk released his first all original LP “Heavy Rotation” on his own label Funk Therapy in April of last year, which features UK hip hop icons Too Many T’s and Canadian collaborators Slynk, Illvis Freshly and Timothy Wisdom. This year will be no different, with many original tracks lined up to be released on his label, including collaborations with the likes of K+Lab, TWOGOOD and Longwalkshortdock.

Ladies and gentlemen… please give a warm welcome to… Father Funk!
